Jeff 1-29-2010
Hi y'all
First I just want to thank you for the overwhelming support you have shown us........you are truly angels. The Lord has shown us much love, through your hands.
Jeff went into surgery this morning to repair the leak in his right lung; to put 3 tubes in his chest; and "sand" the inside of his ribs, so that the lung will stick to his ribs and won't be able to collapse if there is ever a leak again. The surgery went well, and the lung is no longer leaking. He now has the long road of recovery ahead of him. We expect that he will be in the hospital until Wednesday, at least.
He has been in quite a bit of pain.......feels like someone opened a big can of whoop A on him!
He was put on the 5th floor of UVRMC....room 560. They have unplugged his room phone.....he can't reach it.
Your prayers have been felt..........we have needed it!
Love to you all,
Stephanie

Update on Jeff
Just thought I would give a quick update.
Most of you know that on Sunday night Jeff went to the ER because of chest pain. They ran tests and did an xray and found that his right lung was collapsed 50 % (We now know that is was 60% collapsed). They called in a Pulmonary Specialist, who then put a tube in Jeff's chest. The chest tube keeps the lung from collapsing, by draining the leaking air from his lung.
This morning (Tuesday) he still has the leak, and it seems to be leaking at the same rate. The Pulmonary Specialist suggested that Jeff talk with the Thoracic Surgeon. He talked with the Thoracic surgeon late morning, and we are still trying to decide whether to do surgery or not.
The surgery would be laproscopic and would repair the lung as well as prevent further leaks in the future to that lung. It would be a 3-10 day hospital stay after, and then 6 week of very limited activity.
We hope that you will pray for us, as we try to decide what to do, and also pray for Jeff and his healing.
We love you all and thank you for your outpouring of love,
Stephanie
